We don't own a home. We probably won't for a very long time. But constantly, family and friends are saying we should. They all seem to quote these Myths That Ruined the Housing Market.
this boy is tumbled, recently updated.
Oooops, damn my hosting company really screwed up. Crap. What a rotten time to ask Marmy's credit card to cover my hosting for the time being, while I pay down the Xmas overdraft.
Ohhhh; I knew the Dave from the Vinyl Cafe was from Cape Breton but I never knew where. It is a fictional place called Big Narrows. I wonder if it's based on Grand Narrows, not far from my parents' place. I doubt it though as there are connections to Sydney and Glace Bay so I would say it was one of those spots between them on the highway.
I always said Vicki would do big. For example, meet Sumi, Miga & Quatchi, the new mascots for the Vancouver 2010 Olympics. Hee !!
P.S. PhoToast is kind of live again. I say "kinda" because it really needs some work and I should find someway to incorporate the old archives and some contact info. Commenting just proved to be too difficult.
Hee. Marmy has started Baking School (TM) and it's somewhat similar to this Real Life comic thread.
Hey lookie there, it's Mr & Mrs Kent, are at least gKent and has new wifey-poo. Congrats to Graig and Adrienne.
Kewl !! Chore Wars, Earning Experience Points for Housework could be used to get Marmy gaming with me AND doing some of the housework. (*ducks*)
I would say 5 out of the 7 days of the week, there is reading material in the bathroom. Usually it is a Dragon magazine or a book. I have either damaged books (bump, catch, tear cover) or dropped them in the tub but this will not stop me. I stop being concerned about mint condition years ago. That said, I have a habit of leaving with the comics I read in there, just in case they are not my comics.
Hee !! It's a calamari creature that even I could eat. Yes, our first attempt at doing fondant was a success, but I still must admit to being quickly sated on sweet sweet icing.
Wow. That is a memory. It's nice to know that no matter how much is accidentally deleted or you allow to be deleted, memories still persist on the web. If anyone ever asks, "What is the point of blogging?" I will have any answer.
Many of us struggle day to day with being happy. Some say it's over rated, some say it's a myth. Some say be happy with what you are/have and others seek medication. Some get scoffed at for self-help books and some find a new religion. And some try it all. Personally? I haven't been happy (and only by my own definition) for years. I have been calm, relaxed, mirthful, silly, enjoying myself, etc. But I have not been happy for a long time. I have only myself to blame.
Speaking of social networking (i really hate that term but i cannot put my thumb on why) I recently drank some Koolaid that, for the first time ever, had absolutely nothing to do with people who I work with or whom I relate with mostly via the Internet. Yes, I joined the facebook.
Heh. This was the topic of the conversation that coworkers were having that left me not having a thing to contribute but their kids were saying worse things than, "Shit !!" I was 21 before I ever said the word fuck in front of my mom and I had been up for 30 hours straight at that time.
As Maria said, it was snowing heavily this morning. It was gone by the time I was out of the subway. Poo. But, weird -- I have never seen lightning & snow at the same time, and I even heard the crack of thunder !! Update: The Geekent has some nice shots of it !!
You know, I like the work done at Way Cool Uptown , a tattoo shop up north on Yonge St, but what really makes me smile is that George has his personal description done like a D&D character.
When I was living in Ottawa a number of my friends and ex-classmates were working for Bell Northern Research, or BNR. We called it the Big Nerd Ranch as it was full of programmers with few social skills. I wonder how this b n r came about?
When I was a kid I somehow ended up with a couple of issues of Omni Magazine and I remember it was specifically because of a scifi cover like this one on it. I ended up being addicted to the mag for the articles and the Stephen King short stories.
Where will I be this friday night? Well, at the GTAB Christmas Party of course !! No can of rolo cookies this year though. Marmy is cookied out.
Of course, now I am humming, "On the first day of Christmas..." and probably will be all week.
Shite!! I forgot to tell Murdoch about this post when I went home this summer past.
Holy Fraggle, I get to avoid this kinda shite this year and in case you haven't already guessed, I did quit The Store and I will be working elsewhere. Last day is tomorrow. First day is Monday... maybe.
Everybody join me in wishing a Happy Birthday to my marmalade.girl !! Yes, I got her computer back.
When I was 12 I had a length of chain spot-welded to my right wrist. The other boys were doing, older brothers and fathers running the spot welders, and the inevitable burn mark was a badge of honour. Once attached you could not remove the chain. Mine snapped off on a ski lift in Quebec as I exited the chair, a single link breaking and dropping it far below. In college there were those woven friendship bracelets, a copper-tin woven metal ring traded to a friend by a pickpocket in Nairobi, a couple of leather twists and the longest lasting ones -- the links used to hold shower curtains back wrapped multiply around my right wrist. I broke the last one months and months ago and even now my wrist feels naked. Perhaps this american gulag bracelet could be my next?
You know, it's not much of a masthead but I like knowing that Warren Ellis has a Treo as well. Actually, having spent a week on the sofa watching TV (CSI is on more the Star Trek) I have found that alot of TV people have Treos and that Jack Bauer's has more cool apps than mine.
Heh. The co-worker who shadowed me to gain her experience is blogging her trip at Caroline’s African Adventure.
I don't see my nephews enough to be the cool uncle but I do appreciate that this kid knows how to deal with design-speak.
You know what is even more fun than creating panography? Printing panography on 8.5 x 11 inch sheets of photopaper suitable for cheap ass framing. Weeeeee.
Just so you people know, Marmy did something very brave today.
Oh, and in case you were wondering why I chose that particular week to go home, it was a family reunion.
I am the same age as waiter of waiterrant and probably of the same income bracket. Actually he probably makes more money than I do but I have had the exact same conversation as he starts the piece with.
Not that I wear thigh high socks but here is a Sock Journal called Sock Dreams.
Amen sistah, amen.
This how to... could be about more than artists.
OK, this is a loud WTF ?!?!? There is a website, albeit not updated lately, called That Boy Is Toast Reviews. Can I get another WTF ?!?!?!
OK, so it's not just me. It's so weird how I meet real grownups every day and I feel like I should be one of them, not just pretend like I do at work.
OK, this was my first official post as a weblog, though I had owned a personal website for years before that.
Speaking of Schtuph, I finally created a Cafe Press outlet to sell my creations. The first thing? A blank book, of course, which I have already ordered for myself.
Heh. We are all now required to blog about J's incredible baked bread, made entirely from scratch. She is my baking goddess. Remember folks, i am not called toast for nothing.
I can see some merit in Jason's Smart toast post.
Liz captures the rain from the other day but did anyone catch the sky up here around Yonge & Eg? At 3:30pm it turned so dark the street lights came on; most people in the store walked out onto the sidewalk to look up at these deep green clouds swirling in 5 directions at once. Freaky.
I had thought that the fun mover that Joey was dealing with might be Boris the Mover. It seems someone else has blogged about the real Boris the Mover. And she posts a followup -- alot of us are being annoyed by Boris.
