Papercraft Link Fodder
 Now THIS is papercraft.

I have been looking around for a decent dayminder / calendar. I actually was using a free Spacing calendar I found last year, one with lots of photos of Rannie's. Lo and behold, I could continue the trend.

The other aspect of the vinyl toy industry is the paper toy industry. Alot of them are free and placed online (often for a limited time) for you to download and assemble. The problem is you might only find out about it after it "expires". It's nice to know sites like Vinyltoys Templates, a bit of a misnomer of a name, hang onto the templates.

Ummm, wow. It's a "curiously complex origami CD case."

I have to browse through it a bit more but I think I will really like notebookism.

Holey Free-Holey !! I have been considered creative and crafty in my past years, doing things like making paper, creating rubber molds for primitive carvings, drawing (not re-started yet *pout*) and collage. But I cannot even fathom the kind of mind that is required for Creating the barbarian series, by folding a 1m wet sheet of paper.

Why would you need to purchase a StoryCube? It's a great idea, if a little grand and pretentious, but paying for it is a little silly considering all you need to do is fold a cube and stick the ideas to it.

Yep, this is exactly the kind of journal schtuph that I love. You might buy it but really you could just make it. But people sooo love having someone do it for them so this will probably do well. Often my personal journals just became scribbling pads and not whatsoever journals of days.

OK, I have to sheepishly admit something. I don't get the fascination with Moleskines. Oh I can see that they are nicely bound and have good quality paper but not being a sketch artist, I don't see the point. Considering many are bought purely to be organizers and notebooks, why the expense? Really, if you don't do this with them, why?

You know, I like papercraft and I like food but ... WTF ?? Some creative types are just weird. ( thanks nood, and might I stress..wNoodle)

Neat !! The 1000 journals project now has a book. Remember that art project? A guy setup a series of journals, some plain, some with covers done by designers, and sent them out. The receiver would decorate or write a page and send it on. The one I got went to Sweden but I do not know if it went further.

My mom did something called paper tole, where she took multiple stock victorian pictures and cut them up, reassembling them with dots of glue into layered almost 3D images. I was always wondering what it would be like to do something similar with photos.

Hey! A gallery of the aforementioned FBs.

I have mentioned it before but the only time I actively actually did the collagey notebookey stuff I love so much was when I did Friendship books, during my penner (penpal) phase. It was fun and I always wonder how many of my stuff might be sitting under a pile of someone else's momentos.

Back in my penner (pretentious for PenPal) days I used to Make Your Own Envelopes. Well, make mine actually. I would do exactly what they say and for large enevelopes, I would use the movie posters being given away by my local video store.

I don't know if having these Crease Patterns for origami would even help me fold paper in such a nice manner.

In times past I have unsuccessfully tried to explain to people why I love the notebooks written by serial killers in TV & movie fiction. Something about the no-margins scrawling from page to page with detailed drawings and the like, just attracts me. I am disappointed I cannot recreate such but also thankful I am not a serial killer. Perhaps it's not just the psycho that has creative talent so as to fill a moleskin with such loveliness? ( via martine)

No, I don't believe I already blogged the Paper Forest ! ( thanx joe!)

Yay! More Shin Tanaka paper stuff that i didn't see linked off the main page.

OMFG !! I can combine my obsession with paper craft and collectible japanese toys by just getting SHIN TANAKA schtuff !!

I am pretty sure this Howl's Moving Castle Papercraft Model is featured in a Ghibli book but I dunno. Update: Ah, yes this is where I saw it. I assume the one for sale is the completed project though I cannot envision the shipping method. Oh, and their Flickr set is worth looking at.

Ugh, v should know better than link to a producer of papery things called lovelydesign. i am resisting the urge to find my credit card in it's hidden spot.

Never played the game but how could I resist making paper tanks ??

We will ignore the fact that I have a milk crate full of jewel cases because when someone wants a copy of a cd i make them a paper cd case. thanks for the reminder freckle.
