D&D Link Fodder
Still not blogging. Still only thinking about building HD. In the meanwhile, I give you a Displacer Moose. Just cuz.
D&D dungeons don't make a lot of sense in even the stretchiest fantasy concepts -- only in D&D. How many multi-room, twisty-turny, packed with seemingly random monster labyrinths can there be? But imagine What Real-Life Dungeon Exploration Might Look Like, Graduate Students in Tow.
Heh. It's not about Gary Gygax but it probably is.
The tribute blog entries to Gary Gygax continue to roll out (groan) but none are like these two gems: Gygax, a nerdcore rap and the There be (Dungeons &) Dragons Mixtape.
Another damn good Gary Gygax obit.
Hee ! MST3K does Jack Chick, or more explanatory, make fun of the Jack Chick anti-D&D comic tract. (via the wednesday knights)
Yeah this is how I expect it to go for D&D ver 4.
Heh. While we already know there are D&D InJoke Tshirts (like mine) out there, some are a little more InJoke than others. Such as the Kill Bargle shirt. Speaking of, I'd go for Morgan Ironwolf anyday.
It will force me to turn in my geek creds if I don't comment on Dungeons & Dragons 4th Edition but really all I've got to say is, "And you expected otherwise???" At least the video is pretty irreverant. P.S. As they abandoned the paper magazines of Dungeon and Dragon, the last scene on the video suggests they might abandon D&D hardcovers. There is a disturbance in the Force, to mix geek canon.
Considering this is the only way I play D&D these days, it's nice to know someone is creating 1 on 1 Adventures.
Nice to know that my favourite D&D / Gaming illustrator Claudio Pozas is still around.
With the MJ Bust (*snicker*) making waves and PvP talking about boobies (and getting shite for it) I thought it only appropriate to poke some fun at the typically D&D version of sexism, the chainmail bikini.
OMFG, it's like a part of my childhood dying. Paizo Publishing, the current publisher of the D&D magazines, Dragon and Dungeon, announced that they will publish no more. I hope the outcry causes Wizards of the Coast to find another publisher because, I really do like my monthly reading of D&D related materials even if I don't play any more. I have been reading the zines since I started playing.
Ooooo, I know something to give the Unwashed Gamer Boy in your life for his next foray into the real world.
I have always wanted to add blackpower weapons to a D&D game but have always found it cumbersome. Damage vs reloading times is always a bitch. And once it is fired, you drop it and wade in with your sword. But what if your gun was a sword. Not FF but close.
You know, I never heard The Tale of Eric and the Dread Gazebo but I can think of a couple of instances where it actually happened. Well not with a gazebo but some of my adolescent gamer friends were not... bright.
Remember the Level 1 Human Baby Creeper? I blogged it sometime in the past. What's best is the discussion on baby AC in the comments -- you KNEW it had to happen !!
I just have to say out loud how impressed I am with the latest story line for Order of the Stick. It's a lil webcomic of stickfigure D&D characters and it's doing a great job of humourous in-jokes while keeping a strong and compelling story about a siege. The D&D references are just so spot-on.
The Lord of the Rings as a D&D game has been done since the internet was written on stone tablets. But with the existance of the movie, we have a whole new way of presenting it.
You know, I like the work done at Way Cool Uptown , a tattoo shop up north on Yonge St, but what really makes me smile is that George has his personal description done like a D&D character.
Lured to google him by a mention of his book being, "IT Geeks meet Cthulhu," I connect with Charles Stross, a UK specfic writer who turns out to be the guy who created the Githyanki for D&D. And he has some free stories online, which I have to get onto my Treo.
I haven't read the second and third book but these Creatures of Perdido Street are downright nasty nasty.
Now THIS is an interesting idea for a wiki; it's the d20 NPC Wiki.
I forgot this existed; it's collector prices for classic D&D products.
Grindy grindy grindy !! I likes da girls wit da dice. (editor's note: I changed the original traditional 'hubba hubba' to the current in-joke; my life needs more in-jokes instead of being one)
And in the same genre, as in don't click it if you are offended by porn, I think I found the next world for Marmy's character to explore. Excuse me while she slaps me all the way from NS. *ow*
Except for one little aspect of The Battle of Farador, that little video did remind me of recent games of D&D with old timers. (thanks moooooo)
Oh yeah rob, I know what TeeShirt yer baby is getting !!
So, there is going to be a Official Dragonlance Movie and it will be animated. It could be worse than the live action movies but I doubt it. What I want to see is a CGI animated movie of the calibre of the Warhammer trailer. (via ed)
OK, I was offered the Dungeons & Dragons Online 7 day trial so I did so. Anyone wanting to adventure for a week, give me a shout.
I have always had a facination with dioramas and minatures environments, and though I never actually played with miniatures in D&D I still have the great urge to make a minature tavern with a dwarf sitting at the bar.
Oh yeah, read this D&D like comic strip called The Order of the Stick.
It's Treasure Tables, self described as "GMing advice, tips, ideas and resources - Dedicated to helping GMs." That's Game Master noobs.
I am trying out some freeform D&D writing using a free web-based wiki tool called Stikipad.
I don't know about you but that sounds like a lot of fun to me.
OK, it has been years since I truly diddled with writing fantasy stories but these BioWare contests for Neverwinter Nights make me want to write something. It also makes me want to installed that never before played copy I have on my shelf.
My favourite thing about Fear of Girls ?? The shrine to their original white box D&D set in the background. I also notice they refuse to play 3.5 and are still adamantly playing AD&D. (via a paused metrogeek)
Hey! It's the blog of Robh Ruppel, a guy who used to do D&D covers.
Some time, probably over a year ago, I mentioned The World's Largest Dungeon as a fun endeavour for the D&D player. Playing it did not happen as my life dores not currently lend itself to regular events. I still want to own it, even more so now that I have read Steve's review over at Tolen Mar.
Hey everybody, hug that orc guarding a chest in a ten by ten room !! It's National Dungeons and Dragons Day tomorrow !! Or today, by the time you read this. (via joan, another female j who plays The Game)
Yeah this image says pretty much how I feel about MMORPGs even after becoming addicted to one.
OK, I have just finished watching season two of Battlestar Galactica and I am browsing around the SciFi site for news of a fall season. But instead I run into news of Dungeons & Dragons II: Wrath of the Dragon God. Oh dear, this could be scary.
Cory asks, "Where are the celebrity D&D TV shows?" and was answered a few times. I actually pitched this to J last night along with Celebrity Halo 2 Matches and Celebrity CCG.
Pulled from my archives it's a 20' By 20' Room and it's about RPGing.
Oh yeah, I can use these Pictures from Old Books as source material for D&D. (thanx yougeek)
Neat that they have a Forgotten Realms entry in the WikiPedia.
