Heh. It's not about Gary Gygax but it probably is.
Man o man, WE are watching the Watchmen. And what's up with these armor costumes? At least Roschach doesn't have Batman-style nipple armor.
These are spectacular !! Someone has photoshopped well known current comics as if they were from the last few decades. My fav is The King of Dreams, a spoof of Sandman, which was a retcon of all those old DC horror comics.
Marmy and I watched the first episode of Tin Man from the SciFi network, a re-working of the Wizard of Oz story in steampunk overtones. It was not very good. That seems to be a trend on SciFi. Too bad.
Some would call torchwood babiez a chibi version of Torchwood. I would say this is more Tiny Toons. But there is still something disturbing about the pervy Torchwood starring kids.
I honestly wish it was possible to write heroic comics without fantasy fulfillment. But despite an obvious theme of being single male human amongst a group of sexy elf warrior women, the webcomic Outsider is well done.
Quit giggling Marmy. Yeah yeah, I resemble this comic.
You know, on the Internet there are things that are better left untouched. Some will make you angry, some will make you really really depressed. And then some will make you do things you shouldn't. And really, you shouldn't see the reference. No really, you shouldn't. Unless goatse was something you enjoyed.
LMAO. Speaking of the Master, I now finally know who he is under that helm. (thanks global nerdy)
Neat !! Sam Jackson To Play Nick Fury in 'Iron Man, ala the Ultimates version of Nick Fury who's character drawing was basically Sam Jackson.
Hee. Marmy has started Baking School (TM) and it's somewhat similar to this Real Life comic thread.
Yeah this is how I expect it to go for D&D ver 4.
I always wondered why it was called that.
I would totally see this movie.
Heh. This xkcd comic is basically how I want my 40th birthday to go.
Migawd, it's been in production since 2003 and it still sucked sooooo badly?
Marmy !! You like Dick. No not THAT kind of Dick, the undead Richard kind, but he is a dick too. And you like Disney classic animations. So, you will love this:
Hmmm, I have seen a lot of anime but I am not really interested in reading manga (tressss expensive in NA) unless it is very good manga. (via drawn)
Hee. For my own squirrel girl (ask her about her amazing power over montreal squirrels) I give you a great lakes avenger.
Heh. Back when we started blogging in Montreal, during the good ol' days, Ed had some comics done about his blogging. I don't think anyone's life is complete unless they have a cartoon made about some aspect of their life.
I never knew that Marvel also had a reference to a primary earth on which their comics take place. It is Earth-616 and I love how it was an inside joke on Heroes. By primary earth, we mean the world which the majority of comic stories take place... as opposed to the Marvel Zombies world, which is alternate, having a Colonel America instead of a Captain.
Oooo, I hadn't heard 30 Days Of Night had been completed. (thx vicki)
Hee!! The Unspeakable Vault (Of Doom) is a comic strip about our favourite (green) tentacled monster. Yum yum !!
I didn't understand his sadness when I read this Stargate Atlantis strip but then I realized that Space is still one season behind. Considering the Spacies last night, this is gonna confuse the viewers immensely when Jewel Staite doesn't appear anytime soon.
Ewwww, can I suggest suicide dudes dot com?
Do you think that JLA Ventures has any problems with Cadmus?
Now that's it is confirmed, are you wondering what to expect from Heroes season two ? I predict a Heroes Registration Act (as hinted at in season one), some physically deformed Heroes living in the sewers, the establishment of a school for the younger Heroes in upstate New York and another hint of the future featuring a scene with a scarred Peter defending a red headed Claire-bear in front of a wanted poster with other familiar Heroes crossed off.
so, in Star Trek, The Manga will Kirk go up against a tentacle monster?
Hrrrm, so Joss is no longer doing Wonder Woman and Goyer is no longer doing The Flash. You know, I never cared much for a WW movie because you knew they (dried out hollywood moguls would coun't find an audience demographic in a movie house) wouldn't want a comic book movie from WW but a movie based on the lame TV series. And don't get me started on The Flash series. Sorry Kent.
LMAO. Is this new or did I just notice the Real Life Comics, Canadian edition??
Where was I during these days of playing Diablo II ?? I can remember running to the local gaming network store in NDG and getting the expansion and getting a little involved. This was the first game that Marmy and I played, co-op, together. Funny, how in playing WoW, I can no longer do the all night gaming session. Is the game play just not as captivating or am I just too old?
OMG its Robert Sichky and the Tower of Pepsi. Only those associated with my university years will get that.
If I could draw I would definately have a ball with something like the dryponder Supergirl meme.
I just have to say out loud how impressed I am with the latest story line for Order of the Stick. It's a lil webcomic of stickfigure D&D characters and it's doing a great job of humourous in-jokes while keeping a strong and compelling story about a siege. The D&D references are just so spot-on.
I guess it's cuz I stopped reading Civil War (Marvel comics outlawing of superheroes and killing of Captain America massive crossover storyline, in case you didn't know) very early in that I don't get this Roughhousing joke but I do have to say that it somewhat traumatized me. Oh I do love my run on sentences.
The Lord of the Rings as a D&D game has been done since the internet was written on stone tablets. But with the existance of the movie, we have a whole new way of presenting it.
I really appreciate this Questionable Content tutorial that outlines the simple process he uses to create his comics. It wasn't until I saw the part about the shading that I saw how integral it is to his strips; I guess if you don't notice them thyey are doing a great job. And I only thought about doing my own webcomic for about 2.3 seconds.
When I was a kid my grandfather had a bag of comics, not superhero comics like superman and batman, but the odd titles like Gold Key Turok Son of Stone and the mess load of horror comics that inspired Gaiman's Sandman. Some of them were so obscure I don't even remember anything but my anachronistic WTF? reaction. These Stupid Comics reminded me of sitting on the floor of my uncle's bedroom and reading the afternoon away. P.S. Wasn't The Prez re-made in the last decade or so?
When someone asks me why I called my blog ThisBoyIsToast or explain what it means, I may just say, "Because this is how I feel most days, " and direct them to this lil comic.
Yeah, it's the expected comic about standing in line for Burning Crusade but it made me grin.
I knew it was only time before comics went from making series with not direct but obvious connections to D&D to making series with not spoken out loud but obvious connections to WoW.
So I read this comic at Full Frontal Nerdity and I am thinking, "I know one person who gets this," and I also thinking, "What? My d20 shirt doesn't get the ladies hawt?"
LMAO. I realized it's only going to be a few days before I start shouting, "It's only a phone !!" But until then I still understand Brent's sentiment.
Yes, linking to the same comic twice in a row. It takes a comic that previously mentioned WoW to explain to me something about cooking.
Yeah, this is pretty much how I play WoW.
Say, isn't that the costume of the Winter Reveler in WoW?
More comic book characters need christmas noogies.
Neat! Yes, category needed number two. Anywayz, and maybe i should only have three categories: Kewl, Neat, Anywayz. ANYWAYZ! When Fangirls Attack is a neat link collecting blog about Women in Comics.
Everyone is going on about the new Archie comics look but they don't realize that it is not ALL Archie comics but some of the titles or maybe some new ones. It's a comic for gawds sake, if you are not a 50 year old man who regularly takes the Montreal metro, you are going to be fine. Superman survived having 90s hair so B&V will survive looking more realistic. American boys should have something to masturbate to like the Japanese kids do.
OK, go ahead and read these Time Friends comics and then go do your own with this image; post it somewhere and place the link in my comments.
Hmmm, I think I might read more of Alpha Shade.
Really, if these superheroe photos were not so lame they wouldn't give the best image of the average hero.
OK, I giev up. What's with the JLA reference in the latest Order of the Stick ??
Tee hee, xkcd, the web comic, rolls one up for experience.
Hey folks, YouGeek has comics for sale here. Beware dude; Flickr might object.
Yeah I usually get what I ask for as well. "Brain? You are emotionally stagnant," was what I said a few months ago. So then my brain responded. (via joey, not that I haven't linked to Sinfest before)
Sometimes I wish I had a Amazing Screw-On Head so I could just leave it elsewhere. Anywayz, I will be downloading this animation as soo as it is available. To the TorrentMobile !! (thx robo)
This webcomic with D&D themes and Disney-like drawing is just brilliant; it's Yet Another Fantasy Gamer Comic.
Shooting War is a decent online comic read. It's an Iraqi war story set about five years from now.
This link to the blog for LOCAL, a comicbook, is for later perusal and commentary.
The Legion of Superheroes always confused me as a kid. Why were there no adult superheroes in The Future and if Superboy was now in The Future, how could there ever be a Superman?
Fleen; about webcomics.
Nope, not me. Not at all. No, really. Oh go away.
Y'know, I believe this became the sole reason we are playing CoV & CoH.
Really, it was only a matter of time before someone made the Pii Wii connection.
There is an RPG of Dan Brereton's Nocturnals?!?! I must have !!
I will probably buy this Steampunk Transformers series.
Oh yeah, read this D&D like comic strip called The Order of the Stick.
If enough people link to Jesus and Mo, do you think it will cause world wide havoc?
So if Marvel and DC trademark Superhero, will they then want to trademark mutant, metahuman, power, cape, etc. as well?
Tee hee. It's Girl vs Pig.
I cannot believe I haven't read Alien Loves Predator before.
An old issue of X-men described their suits as some sort of couple-of-molecules-thick material that provided incredible protection as well as flexibility, not just run of the mill spandex. Seems that olympians have it too. (via the boy with the broken blog)
In Montreal I used to read Sinfest everyday.
This Not-So-Secret History of 'Aeon Flux' comic strip reminds me I have to watch my DVD set before I see the movie.
Oh I should be in bed but here we get local comic blogging at Comics.212.net. He works at The Beguiling, the most impressive and intimidating comic store in the city.
Wow. this SF Cover Explorer is incredible. I would have loved to see even bigger covers in the zoom-in or even better -- one done with comic books.
I apologize but I forgot how much I like User Friendly the Comic Strip.
Occasionally I run by Dave's Longbox, where a guy reviews comics mostly from the old grand days of current comicdom. It's not issue by issue reviews but dialogues such as Everybody Loves Power Girl which is about the power of her boobs.
J recently picked up that big fat Bone tome as I have been pawing it everytime we went into a comic store. And now there is a computer game called 'Out From Boneville'.
