past year reminiscing
The thing I like about blogging is that, unlike hand written diaries, I like looking back on old entries. So, to repeat last year's meme, I give you the first sentence in the first post on each month.
- For once in blue decade I am actually considering that it is a New Year and thinking about changes. Didn't happen. Really really didn't happen. I don't know what happened but the rut of just getting done what needed to be done hung with me without the excuse of the horrible work sitch. This year? Better please.
- One month down, eleven to go. The 365 Project just didn't hold my interest and to be completely honest, I fell off the photo bandwagon. I want to get back on.
- Yay !! I have been where you are, by Davin Risk, my favourite Toronto photoblogger. He is still one of my favourite photobloggers and while I have not been following him very much this year, he has been productive in other areas.
- So, I saw someone link to this Gmail Paper, and while part of my brain was saying, "Why?" another part of my brain was saying, "It's Paper, I want !" I fell for an April Fool's Joke and amusingly enough, I saw this link posted a few times more throughout the year with people also falling for it, waaaay post-April.
- I don't update the 'books desired' category enough. I still don't but I think it's more the fact that the web browsing I do doesn't suggest books to read more than the fact I don't have a desire to read more books. I didn't read Brasyl.
- You know, I couldn't get into Guitar Hero, basically because if you missed notes the game sounded like a sqwawking tropical bird and ... well, i never wanted to be a classic rock god. Never did, never will. In the video game world, I am more about killing people than entertaining them.
- You know, rather than buying me this Inigo Montoya T-Shirt, I suppose I could just get some stickers and a sharpie. Or I could just use the new Silk Screen Kit Marmy gave me for Xmas.
- At some point in this blogs infancy, I commented how I was not doing enough "journal style" entries. Still don't, still should. Also should reduce the number of curmudgeon entries.
- It's strange but I seem to have become simultaneously the curmudgeonly old man shaking my cane at kids on my lawn while still have the geeky kid inside of me. Turning 40 really solidified that thought in me. I am now of the age that is supposed to be an adult, with no question, and yet when one of the social committee asked me, in jest, if I wanted the spare Pirate Play Set, I almost said yes in all seriousness. IT does have a lot of toys on their desks and it's not just me.
- Every so often you have to do something out of the ordinary to shake your brain up. I still need to do more of that, at least once a week. Almost sounds like a New Year's Resolution. But considering how many of my once usual good habits have disappeared, just relearning to do them will be out of the ordinary.
- Oh gawds, another social networking platform?!? I am this close to giving up on Facebook but it's really the quick way for my family to contact me.
- How is this for funny? Still canceling Sympatico, still getting throttled left and right on all services HTTP included. Fuckers.

re:Facebook, before ditching it, you might want to just add an app like Simply RSS to pull your blog posts into your profile, which along with your delicious app will provide some semblance of life, maybe get rid of whatever apps you don't want to maintain, and have email alerts on your messages and maybe wallposts.
..or you can just delete it. From what I understand, it is very, very difficult to delete your account. When you delete it, they actually keep all your data on file. If you come back later, your account will simple reactivate with all your friends, etc, etc.
Just an idea... :)
