Weeeee a new Studio Ghibli anime based on Ursula K LeGuin's Tales of Earthsea. Yes, it's in Japanese but you can watch the trailer.
J is always asking whether or not the American public at large "gets" The Colbert Report, in that they understand that it is lampooning right wing America. I say no, and thus they asked Colbert to speak at the White House Correspondents Dinner. Guess who didn't get it?

With the connector connected to the connection on the TV, I am sure we could entertain ourselves all evening with TV in Japan.

I used to doodle monsters and if I hadn't quit at 11 maybe I could have been good as the Creatures in my Head.

So, Paladium games is in trouble. For those not in the know, Paladium produces the Rifts table-top RPG as well as a few others. Their version of a superhero game was my favourite. I played Rifts during the days that there were about a dozen mainstream competitors to D&D and as a concept it was a lot of fun. It truly was a megaverse kinda game combining my favourite era of SciFi gaming (post apocalypto) with everything from elves to mutants to vampires. But the system kind of sucked and purchasing any new books meant seeing a ton of MS Word copy & pasted text filling half of the book, duplicating what you already read.

When I read their reasons about losing money, excepting the "betrayal", I can see it obviously happening. Who would try and start a movie about a third stringer game considering now difficult it was for D&D to get a theatre release. Even Vampire, definately the second stringer in RPGs, only got a crappy short-run TV series. Plus, don't try Bruckheimer, try Boll. And seriously, N-Gage?!?!? I am not sure if they were attempted but my suggested attempts at alternate revenue would have been an anime, a CCG and a FPS video game. Rifts itself had LOTS of material to mine for those three genres.

I am sure many old time gamers like myself will not miss Paladium if they die but would mourn the loss of another gaming company from the height of the hobby.

This TwangBlog may satisfy the music mood I have been in lately.

Now that I don't make as many mixCDs or create covers to be inset into jewel cases, I didn't know what to do with the crate of em I have. Now I can do DIY Jewel Case Photo Frames. Not that I have hung the other dozen frames I already have.

Fabien Barral, who still does some of my favourite grunge-y dezine, has a brilliant list of inspirational links.
When I see this allegation that Bill Swanson is a plagiarist (Swanson is a big time boss type who wrote down his tricks at management and is peddling them as a book) it just makes me think about how people really need to realize how the Internet works. If you try and pull the wool over someone's eyes, you will get caught by someone with too much knowledge or time on their hands.

When one is considering updating the design as well as some of the implementation elements, that may involve editing the hundreds of already existing posts, should one write more posts?

Wow, my word of the month, is appropo when looking at Dave Werner's Portfolio. My fav was a treasure map of imagination.

Woot! Another free MMORPG called Shadowbane. I imagine it's going to go the GuildWars way and make you pay for updates on materials.
Hey Jer, RedFlagDeals.com is a neat idea !
The Sangaku Japanese case mod makes me think of the days when I wanted to convince my dad to get into artisan design of products and I was thinking that the coolest computer case would be a dark stained oak case. (via jer)
This how to... could be about more than artists.

OK, this is a loud WTF ?!?!? There is a website, albeit not updated lately, called That Boy Is Toast Reviews. Can I get another WTF ?!?!?!
Man, try and bathe either of our cats requires chainmail gloves and I have the scars to prove it.

You know, I was intending on getting some Day Off kinda stuff done. You know, like get my hair cut or make a comicbook run. But the water is turned off so I am a non-showered stinky toasty kind of boy. I cannot wash the dishes so they sit, I cannot do laundry so I sit in yesterday's clothes. I cannot even brush my teeth. Should I just play computer games all day?

It's Treasure Tables, self described as "GMing advice, tips, ideas and resources - Dedicated to helping GMs." That's Game Master noobs.
If i liked hotdogs, this Pop-Up Hotdog Cooker would rock.
