Y'know, they didn't really need the bloody nut and the generic squirrel -- the flying squirrel coming down from the trees was ninja enough.

So people are upset at the lampooning on the animated Boondocks. How do I, a whitebread guy who can count the number of black people i know on one hand, to comment on this? We lampoon white people in The Simpsons and Family Guy but it's so easy to dismiss the buffoons of those shows as, "nothing like me." Do we lampoon mainstream white dominant culture enough? But that is not where I am going. I find myself with more questions and not many opinions that don't make me self censor. I am fearful of political incorrectness as much as the next person.

My favourite thing about Fear of Girls ?? The shrine to their original white box D&D set in the background. I also notice they refuse to play 3.5 and are still adamantly playing AD&D. (via a paused metrogeek)

Heh heh heh, they are Katamari Hijinks. I could hear the sound effects of cats and people as he tried to roll them up.

Oh oh oh! I wanna a wobot !! (via emailjoe)

OK, this idea of exercising with a Shovelglove is tres weird but it kind of fits into my schema of exercising. I don't like organized exercising like gyms, always thinking back to a Conan comic where he tosses a barbell at a weighlifter (he was in the fuuuu-ture) telling him he could gain more muscle killing men then lifting steel. I like the idea of non-traditional, more like work, exercise. I had pretty good arms when I was cutting wood and lifting cabinets for my father. And my shoulders were getting in shape when I was in the basement at The Store. Sure professional exercise equipment can work but is expensive and doesn't fit in small apartments very well. So, a sledgehammer...

Such neat lil chairs made from champagne corks n stuff.
I could produce a F.P.E.S. or cat helmet but I would lose my arm placing it on Balthie.

Kottke's big article on leaving ALL comments open is quite interesting. I leave everything open because I am not popular and I still have to delete a handful of comment spam every day. On my PhotoBlog, they are not moderated very well so I have to go back every few days and delete porn spam that has made it through. Much of the actual comment spam doesn't seem to lead to a real site or anything that could make the spammer money so it makes me wonder if hacker types are just testing software.

Hi, my name is Chuck U Farley and I have decided to annoy an american today.

Great. Due to a known bug, my poor Bad Bad Boy -- an antisocial type of villain I play on City of Villains -- has to be retired. Why? He has capped all his available missions at only level 22. Oh sure, he can join other folks sidekicking & teaming or solo-hunting to his heart's content, but he was my solo play character. If I cannot stalk the night streets of the Rogue Isles then I am not having the fun I was having with him. Poo.

I wonder if I should now make Bad Bad Girl?

This article, Piracy is Good? How Battlestar Galactica Killed Broadcast TV, is a good read. It reflects exactly how I have viewed Battlestar Galactica. I was a huge fan of the first season run of BG on Canada's Space. I didn't want to wait for the mid-season run of the SciFi Channel's second season. So I began to bittorrent the series. I then got Season One for Xmas and watched it again in it's entirety. I am now re-watching Season Two (part one) and as soon as it's done I will watch the new episodes. By the time I am caught up, they may be running on Space. Nice new way to watch TV.

For about a decade, I have been known as the "guy with the pins on his bag" amongst my friends. Though I have expired many many bags (starting with those canvas ones from surplus shops) I have more or less hung onto the pins. Recently, say the last 4 years or so, it has taken off so just about every event I go to adds one and many friends have also produced a few to promote their personalities. My Psycho pin is falling apart and it is the second of it's kind. Graig recently gave me my first toast related one. And I still giggle when I think about the little old lady smiling and tapping my arm after she read the "All grown up and still fascinated with boobies" pin, given by Joe. People have complimented me on the bag, for whatever reason, and have suggested places to buy them. But I don't go looking for the pins; I take them when I run into them. I also do not mourn the loss of one, remembering with some embarrassment the night I got all mopey depressed because I lost the Invisibles pin. I found it, lost it again, bought another and have since lost that. Segue? Oh, as I scrolled down through this weblog, I saw these Mosley Meets Wilcox David Bowie plates and thought they were pins. And THAT gives me a spectacular idea for the photoblogging world.

The whole thing that makes the DC World animations so great is that they obviously they take themselves just seriously enough, knowing that 40somethings are watching but their audience is kids. They are cartoony but heroic. But with Ultimate Avengers, why do I just cringe? Obviously inspired by the Ultimate Universe over at Marvel, they are doing an animated movie. But weren't The Avengers already called The Ultimates? I fear that while Marvel does much better at the Hollywood blockbuster end of things, trying their hand at animation might just get pretty bad. Just look at the previous X-Men cartoons, which were sooooo standard saturday morning schmaltz. (via Gushie)

OK, I broke my own rule and built a new category just for my grand google-favourited director, Uwe Boll. I broke the rules by going back and applying the category tagging to past posts. So here we have Uwe Boll Link Fodder and Uwe Boll Full Posts.

I noticed recently that Uwe Boll's latest film has not been released in Toronto yet. Bloodrayne, based on a PS2 game, is in limited release but not in Ontario... yet. Then I noticed that I was the number one search for "uwe boll sucks" and, you know, it may be because I am in Toronto. Is it a blessing or a reprimand that we don't get to see vampires riding the shoulders of men while sucking their life force? When will we get to see the latest from the likes of Ben Kingsley and Billy Zane?

I would have assumed the new Apple iMac (intell duo core inside) would have had a redezine.
Are there really this many Public Domain Movies ??
Hey, not sure if you want to pay a monthly fee for a MMORPG or even buy a copy of Guild Wars (no monthly fee, just the cost of the box) ? Why not Play Anarchy Online for free ?
Kintaro Walks Japan sounds like a fun movie.
Oh yes, I would love more serenity in my life.
Speaking of thumbdrives, I think these underpants come with a thumbdrive port.
I never could think of a reason to have a USB thumb drive but then I remembered I needed to bring a PDF from home to work and cannot remember where I have any floppies.
Kodak's new logo sucks the big one.
They are photos of places where The Matrix was filmed in Australia.

Hey! It's the blog of Robh Ruppel, a guy who used to do D&D covers.

"Positive Sharing: The story so far" is about a guy who decided being a successful geek just wasn't enough. He decided to "make people happy at work" so he created a company that runs conferences, workshops, etc. to teach companies how to do that. Great idea, sounds admirable. But... huh? I am so downright cynical these days that I scoff at the idea of it. Not at the idea he had but at the idea of a company wanting to be happy. Sure, someone may have sent their midlevelsenior managers to that conference or paid these guys a hundred grand to hear them proselytize but how far would it have carried? Most of these "better work" conferences and workshops are paid for, attended, attempted and dropped. Dropped usually due to too many cynical people like me or even worse, by people who only see the cost of the implementation of better work conditions. Work conditions suck because it makes them money and too much time & effort to change the environment. The idea of making more money in a better environment is lost.

I also harp on the idea of another guy with already alot of money being able to do something he really wants to do. But that's jealousy. Given my lottery winnings, I will become a benevolent cult leader.

For the first time in quite the while, it feels like a lazy sunday afternoon. We had the chums over last night for MST3K, wings & za and a couple of rounds of Munchkin. Even Kent, who is not a RPG/D&D type, got into it enough to trounce us on the last game. Even if you don't get a thrill out of playing a sex-changed Orc Thief with a big rock, the game can still be a blast. After heavy food and beer and laughter, I went to bed tummy full and somewhat exhausted. The last week's worth of near-insomnia had me plumb tuckered.

And thus I didn't make it to TaiChi this morning. A combination of having missed the Xmas week lesson and a need to be rested for the post-Xmas Party (for work), left me sleeping in late. Work's situation might be changing next week (making me a manager due to sheer desperation; they are losing two more managers in two weeks) so I thought I should be at the party for one more time as a lowly peon.

I also wanted to play with the new toy J bought me -- a Dual Layer DVD Burner. I don't know why I wanted this, sure the copying of movies can be advantageous, but with the cost of renting a movie combined with a $6 cost per 8.5gig DVD, it just doesn't seem worth being a pirate. OK, maybe if I get to say, "Ahhhrrr !!" Anywayz, my existing copy of Nero doesn't allow for CSS Copy Protection backups so I hunted my usual Torrentz sites and found something suitable. And my test-copy of Fuqua's King Arthur came out perfect. Now I get the fun of designing my own DVD Cover. It shall be a fun challenge, recreating a movie poster style cover with resources on the net.

Other toy news includes a new video card, provided as a castoff by one of Jeremy's gaming friends, giving me a new Radeon 9880 Pro. City of Villains may not look perfect but now Bad Bad Boy (my antisocial stalker) runs with unerring speed. I also used the new card as an excuse to install Dungeon Siege II, which looks superb. Do I have enough time in my schedule to play so many games? Ahhh who needs to wash dishes.

Speaking of DSII, I see Uwe Boll's Dungeon Siege is post. Will he slaughter that like he has other video games? And when will BloodRayne make it to Canada, I wonder. Watching his movies is now like watching MST3K, a fun kind of masochism.

I was never much of a Transformers fan, unlike my fellow usual suspects, but these Star Wars Transformers are kind of cool.

Is this new? It's called the Sony Reader and it's a PDA only for books.
Speaking of Schtuph, I finally created a Cafe Press outlet to sell my creations. The first thing? A blank book, of course, which I have already ordered for myself.
Yes, I like the idea of wrapping these lips around my toothpaste.

Ouch; these photos of wintry nature make my heart ache.
I could just post a bunch of the links found at Wonderland or I could just blog them... and add them to my permalinx.
