drinking beer
Last night, after having a meal at a Thai resto, we went in search of Market area beer. C'est What was, "No you cannot sit there that is where people eat. No you cannot sit there because that is where people listen to music. If you want to drink one of our lovely selections of on-tap beers go cram into there with the rest of the people; yes that place next to the smoking room." Fionn McCool was tres cool filled with well dressed urbanites standing, shouting and leaving no room for a casual pint. Down Here was pumping out hiphop and we all giggled when they said, "Cover charge !" to us and the empty bar. We came home. November 20 05

I'm boycotting C'est What? I went on Tuesday with the Copynight group. I had 3 pints and an overpriced stir fry. I asked for my bill and they were refusing to give me a separate bill, they just did because I told them I had no cash. I had to pay with credit card. And they were telling everyone that it was I who refused to pay cash!

I am not actually very fond of the Firkin style english pubs. i always find the usual suspect of import beer to be watered down and the atmosphere a little run down feeling. the only one i can tolerate is the one near Much.
As for C'est What, that is the concensus these days. They have built enough clientelle and popularity that they have become downright pricks for service. Not everyone in a group is there for the same amount of time as everyone else, not everyone can pay in the same method. they ALWAYS complain if you ask for a seperate bill. i won't go there for food any longer and always pay for my beer at the bar.
i should write them a letter / email but i believe, like most places these days, they wouldn't care an iota.
