I would love to do One Movie a Day.
Now I have a storage solution for travelling with cats !!
Ebert favourably reviews Serenity but also gives credit to a McNeil from home. I wonder if it's the McNeil I went to school with, but that IS like asking an american if they know a John Smith.
The Happy Toast will only be happy til I eat him. Eat him slathered in butter and jam. Raspberry jam. Mmmmm. (via J who was reading Davezilla again)
It looks like Kelly, the other marmalade, was not the only one annoyed by that stupid H&M trailer at the beginning of movies. It has been pulled in Canada.
It is Science and the Artist's Book and it's a neat book.
"Ooo oo, oh Ducky Poo, would you like a bicky?"
Farcry is one of those older games that my computer could probably handle and it's a neato looking FPS. But first I will read this webcomic.
Yeah this image says pretty much how I feel about MMORPGs even after becoming addicted to one.
Hey I read that Camp Concentration book. Have I contributed to anti-american attitudes?

Dance Stewie, dance !!
I really should have asked one of the knitting knuts out there to make me one of Jane's stocking cap for the premiere.
I know it is for students but maybe jobpostings.ca could help me too?

What does one do when one is basically forced to not do anything? For the past six days I have been somewhat forefully slothful. I have been more or less faithful to the "keep your head down" mantra that the doctors gave me. It also comes with a "don't pick up anything heavier than 5 lbs" corelary, which has parallel "do not strain anything" rules. You can imagine what I am not allowed to do. So I have read, watched upside down TV for a while (until i learned to sit with my back to the TV and watch it mirrored on the floor) and not listened to any music for some reason. I have also wandered around the apartment asking J to entertain me but she is too busy doing the things for me that I am not supposed to do, like cook & clean. I did pickup this morning as i could do that while looking down, and i have found i can do dishes quite well. And I can only listen to her play CoH.

But it's boring. Recovery is boring. I would like to go outside for walks but i would bump into people. And I discovered I am more than a little paranoid about my lack of lefteye peripheral vision. I literally jumped at a plastic bag yesterday fearing I had stepped on someone's little white poodle. In order to read I have balance my head, first on a padded ironing board, and now in the massage chair. Sounds OK? Well at first it is, then the pressure of my own big melon of a head weighs down and i get a headache on top of the ever emerging pain on my face's left side -- dissolving stitches hurt. Yeah, a little pain but it's more the boredom. And if the bubble is not gone by saturday, I have to request another week off.

And Serenity starts tomorrow !!

Ooooooo, everyone knows how much I like sketch books / journals, all fat with completion and creative goodness. So look, I found another sent around book.
One would not be surprised if I blogged my admiration of a photo. But why does it seem weird to blog my admiration of a gorgeous sketch ?? p.s. it is so weird that a week later, i am feeling the first intense pain from my eyeball, as the stitche disolve.
OK, it's not really artzy but it's neat. It's blank pasted speech bubbles with the public filling in the rest. (via milo)
Wahh wahh wahh, my new iPod Nano is not indestructible and I actually have to take care of it !! No I don't really have a Nano.
The main Grisoft page doesn't seem to promote the free version of AVG AntiVirus anymore but hunting around finds it at Grisoft Freeweb.

LOL. This is the best. graffiti. ever.
I predict that the vast amounts of trendy tshirts with short term catch-phrases such as glarkware, is going to be the ultra-popular trend of the 2040s where the hip young kids will pick them up in second hand stores and online. oh wait...

p.s. their asshole handout card is brilliant ! p.p.s. the massage chair has caused more headaches than it has helped; i wonder if i have it configured wrong p.p.p.s. i believe this is the first time i had two paragraphs in a linkfodder.
Before the one up the street closed and recently became a Springrolls, it was obvious that you didn't have to look good in those 70s shiny short shorts to work at Hooters. But this is what was required. (via fimoculous)
Yes, someone you know out there needs Anti Monkey Butt Powder. (via J reading Davezilla)
OK, I have just finished watching season two of Battlestar Galactica and I am browsing around the SciFi site for news of a fall season. But instead I run into news of Dungeons & Dragons II: Wrath of the Dragon God. Oh dear, this could be scary.
I didn't get the iPod but I love the idea of the Airbag iPod Tattoo, or best described as "skinning your iPod".

September 27, 2005

I can see some merit in Jason's Smart toast post.
Occasionally I run by Dave's Longbox, where a guy reviews comics mostly from the old grand days of current comicdom. It's not issue by issue reviews but dialogues such as Everybody Loves Power Girl which is about the power of her boobs.

Yay, I have prism glasses and The Mat. Now I get to practice my typing skills as I cannot see the keyboard.

September 26, 2005

So the iPod didn't happen. The surgery did. It went well but it disturbs me to see a nasty gash in my cornea when i look in the mirror. Still, it's barely 1hp of damage and the cornea is the fastest healing tissue so hopefully it will be only a few days before it looks better.

Looking down all the time is much more difficult than I remembered. I have a raw patch on my forehead from leaning against pillows and ironing boards. I have finished one book and I am on the way to finishing another. Oh and I finished Bone, all 1000+ pages. I have also taken to watching TV upside down through a mirror on the floor. Last night we watched the extended Return of the King that way -- I would lift my head for the new scenes and some key battle sequences, then back to forehead on ironing board. Tomorrow some assitance tools arrive in the form of prism glasses that assist in nose pointing at toes but eyes seeing what is directly in front of me. As well, there is a pad for sleeping (j propped some pillows brilliantly but i feel this will be less likely to topple me out of bed) and a massage table. No she is not going to massage my aching shoulders, but i can relax when i look at the floor and relieve the raw patch. Most will be covered by our medical plan.

That said, I have wasted too much of my "heads up" time. Ta ta.

September 25, 2005

It's the dream project and it is people visualizing their dream through their own or other's art. (via fabulist) p.s. ten hours of sleeping on your face is not comfy.

September 24, 2005

I am taking two minutes out of staring at the floor to read and post. Today's is a handy software that makes Magic: The Gathering cards. Now if I only played M:tG. p.s. everything went swimmingly.

September 22, 2005

J recently picked up that big fat Bone tome as I have been pawing it everytime we went into a comic store. And now there is a computer game called 'Out From Boneville'.

Love in the year 2005

If things go well tomorrow I will be the proud owner of a second hand not-iPod Nano but a 2nd Gen 20gig. Considering I am about to be spending a week away from this computer and unable to look at things horizontally, I imagine sitting on the balcony looking down at my lap listening to music to be an ideal way to spend a week. But when will I have the time to actually rip the music?

So if you are not in the know, on Friday I go for my second experience at eye surgery. The optic pit that plagued my vision some 8 years ago has come back to haunt me. After a few months of consultations and tests, I go for day surgery on Friday. Then I get a week off from work looking down. Yes, recovery requires that I actually spend most of my time looking down so a bubble in my eyeball pushes against the back of my retina. I am the human level. That being said, I doubt I will be blogging much. Or playing CoH much... arrrrgh !!

And speaking of iPoding, wNood and I were near the Yorkdale so we wandered by the Apple Store. I was majorly impressed by the toys, garnered immense lust for the Nano to the right (black one), almost peed my pants over a TV sized monitor and unfortunately found the store's design sorely lacking -- it looks like a university classroom.

Makin' curry - step 1

P.S. wNood proceded to buy me a box.

It is the only thing I actually buy as soon as I see it on the shelf. It is Ghost in the Shell - S.A.C. 2nd Gig (Vol. 1) and I am disappointed it was the extra-special, ultra neato version like the link. It is also the only anime I don't steal.

Yes I might have to go to Paris in order to get metro tickets to make an X-wing.

The main reason that you see such wonkiness in the Flickr BlogThis postings is because they cause a "DIV inside a P" which is a big non-non. On firefox you end up getting the "first line is smallcaps" throughout the entire post and on IE you get a blank first line and no smallcaps. It just makes me realize that I do have to start paying attention to code again. This minimal design was about not having to think too much about layout and such, just plop posts onto the page and let them go. But with different type of posts I have workarounds which require different code. I may have to go back and strip down the templates.

This is my typical breakfast, created by a need for a non-cereal, lower carb breaking of my fast that would keep me going until noon or four. The toast is some sorta of grocery store, ultragrain kind that is nummy slathered in margerin. And the plate, well the plate just says it all doesn't it? P.S. There is nothing more disgusting than chomping into a grape tomatoe and having it go "ooooze" instead of the expected "crunch-squish".

When I have to wipe my HDs I first burn a copy of my My Downloads dir. Then I write a list of software I had installed and do the reinstall. From the disk I usually have most and using the list I fill in a few more. But I always forget some. Ed's Keeping track of software trick is tres kewl for helping with this all.
Never played the game but how could I resist making paper tanks ??

Just in case you cannot remember what alst year's looks like here we have iPod Generations.

September 15, 2005

Cory asks, "Where are the celebrity D&D TV shows?" and was answered a few times. I actually pitched this to J last night along with Celebrity Halo 2 Matches and Celebrity CCG.
I predict this image of Junior Bush asking Ms. Condi if he can go to the washroom will become a very photoshopped image very quickly, if it isn't already.

September 14, 2005

This is Powazek and it/he redesigned. Its delish of course.

Gahhh, this sickens me. There is now Blogging as Spam (the only results searching for me other than Livejournal hits) when there was already newsgroup spam, comment spam and the good ol favourite, email spam. Next thing you know, they will figure out dream spam.

September 12, 2005

Based on a conversation with my brother tonight, I thought I would say something like, "Hi Aunt Wendy !!"

September 10, 2005

Now of course the Ipod My Baby comes with pause and forward but does it come with Mute?
I love running into blogs like GirlHacker's Random Log, which I read religiously back in the day when blogging & work went hand in hand. Too bad I couldn't put it on a resume.

September 09, 2005

Tags with weight is a concept that has some meaning these days. It's a quick interface way to tell what means more than another thing, whatever that means. For example, looking for work is weighed this way in the web tech world.
I love it !! It is One Bit Music packaged inside a jewel case that plays the music. (last two from kontent)
It sounds like 1000 Journals but it is about Six Degrees of Smoking; sounds like a tobacco magnate hiding behind art.

I post a link to time after time not so much for it is a beautiful image but also as a link to it's thumbnails below it; such a beautiful range of colour blues.

He has the rest so I wonder how long until the aforementioned Paul has the iPod nano ?
I feel behind on my web related phenomena (doo dooo de doo doo) but until today I had never heard of Flying Spaghetti Monsterism though I had seen the image briefly.
OK, call me a cynic but in reading the comments at Whatever: Being Poor, I couldn't help but sneer at the "those are so correct" coming from people with home computers and internet connections.

Today's agendas are: 1) clean off surfaces, all surfaces gathered with junk and garbage and that doesn't mean moving them to another surface but actually cleaning up and putting things where they should be 2) watch a bad but most likely fun movie 3) wash some whites 4) meet J for dinner downtown.

I may have posted this already in my former life as a Blogger (as opposed to an Emptier) but Mighty Goods was made for my co-worker, shopper extraordinaire, Paul.

It's pretty bad when you don't remember what you created a category to represent. Is Webbie related to things uniquely found on The web or technological elements of The Web? Well, based on that from now on when I post something (rarely now) about web technology and learning about it, I will post in WebTech. The weird thing is that for every new Category I create, I feel I should go back and look at old articles and add in categories.

I have been kinda-not-really forced to wear ties at work but looking at the handmade ones at Naked & Angry makes me want to buy one just because. I have a really strong materialist inside of me only curtailed by lack of funds.

Who knew that this post about a new job just over three years ago would lead to such soul drainage.

I posted about this semantic web article back when i just arrived in Toronto three years ago and it was from the previous year's spring. It's four years later and I still cannot really define it. Maybe I should read the article again.

Over at Worksongs the photoblog is a picture called Not Allowed. I knew that this was happening everywhere in the US but for a photographer to be told not to take a picture of something ("cuz of the terrorists") in my own backyard irks the hell out of me. Let's ignore the fact that we have not been the subject of terrorism yet, but wouldn't it be easier for a terrorist making his "bomb this" list to take photos and wait for the warning? I think parts of CSIS really want to become a division of the Homeland Security and are padding budgets by having meetings about stuff like this. I would love to press the point and see what people could do to you. Press charges? Charge you a fine? Detain you in a cell with no charges or contact with your family or lawyers for nine months at a time?

September 06, 2005

Metro, is this the same Picard song or another version of it?
Remember text based games? No? You are too young but RPGs used to be "You walk into a room; there is an orc guarding a chest. There is a door to the north." Well, Urban Dead seems to take that to MMO gaming.
Ouch. This baby jane is what black & white photography is all about.
I can always appreciate a sliding bench.
I like the spaces by rohan, the interiors more than the exteriors.

September 05, 2005

I am remembering this B&W Conversion tip for the future.
I kind of thought my Boss was a Psychopath then I realized he just liked to kill people.

September 02, 2005

OK, Cats In Sinks is too cute. No, I know what you are thinking but I am not going to lose my right arm trying to put Balthie in a sink.
Gays responsible for Katrina !! Lesbians took down the twin towers !! Man, I better avoid my gay coworker who plays Halo 2; he could go off anytime.
I don't want a really cool startrekish sliding door, I want a door that locks itself behind me. No more noticing I left the door unlocked all night and anyone could have come in and stole me.

September 01, 2005

Other than the original Stroke of Genie-us, I haven't really listened to mashups much but I love the attention to (packaging) details with Kanye West meets The Beach Boys. (via a guy with an accordian)

It's hot and I am wearing tight ties, high collars and two giant carbuncles that make me look like I was bitten by a zitpire. I am also not very fond of my recent jarhead haircut. Thankgawds that I did the rannie in the park thing before I was buzzed.

I was inspired by the night photos in the previous BlamBlog post but mine came out all sucky like. I might post one or two over there on that other site I run that gets little (none) commentary.

If you are single and lookin' then by all means make your way down to the Dominion at Bayview & Eglinton on a thursday night. Hot dayum the women were fine. Sorry, that was a Nood-like state of mind. But really, many single (you can tell by the contents of their cart) cute girls there tonight.

Haven't been by glassdog in quite some time but it sure is (not) pretty.

I have a date this weekend !! natch.
